The Problem
People often neglect self-care and mental health due to busy schedules, leading to mental health issues and loss of self-identity, creating barriers to celebrating personal authenticity, exploring identity, and engaging in genuine self-expression.
Selecting a Topic
The track, given by the guidelines of Catalyst 2025, we selected was "Track Three: Defining Self-Identity" which emphasized design solutions that celebrate individuality and explore personal identity. Through a comprehensive ideation session, our team decided on the idea of a journaling app that would encourage authenticity and identity even in a busy life style. We started our design with sketches based off this idea.

Style Guide/Low Fidelity
The colors for Mallow are calm to match the low-stress energy of the app's purpose. Mallow found its name once we decided on a cloud persona for the app. Mallow comes from the word "marshmallow" as both clouds and marshmallows have a fluffy appearance.

Check-In Feature
The feature that I completed was the check-in feature for both the randomized journal check-ins and for the community page. The design follows a step-by-step order through journaling that starts with a simple mood check and short answer question which leads to option follow-up entries.
